Virginia Harmer, Secretary

Virginia Harmer, Secretary

Virginia learned to fly on a dare and the rest is history. As a youngster, she first discovered flight as a passenger on a shuttle helicopter which flew from Newport to Los Angeles. After graduating college, she joined a major brokerage firm where she met her husband, Dennis who was assigned to the Claremont office where one of the brokers was a woman pilot and member of the 99's. Virginia and Dennis flew as passengers on several events and when a friend dared her to learn to fly, Dennis offered to buy her an airplane if she got her license. She started flying in August, 1991 and received her certificate some nine months later.

Virginia is active in the San Gabriel Valley Ninety-Nines, National Intercollegiate Flying Association as well as being secretary of Pomona Valley Pilots Association. Her airplane is based at Cable airport, in Upland , where she is active on the annual Air Show Committee. Sometimes she lets Dennis fly the airplane.
