Al Childers, Vice President, Program Chair, has been an, "airport bum," to use his words, since he started hanging out at West Sacramento Skypark in the late 1940s. Al's idol was a multi mission WWII B-17 pilot and would to do anything to get a ten-minute trip around the field with him. His first solo was in 1954. Al spent four years as a Navy aircrewman. His last tour was in flight test. Al is retired from JPL in Pasadena and is active in the Civil Air Patrol. When he is not out cruising the world or "Winnebagoing", Al is busy "Grandkid entertaining".
Virginia Harmer, Secretary
Virginia learned to fly on a dare and the rest is history. As a youngster, she first discovered flight as a passenger on a shuttle helicopter which flew from Newport to Los Angeles.  She started flying in August, 1991 and received her certificate some nine months later.
Virginia is active in the San Gabriel Valley Ninety-Nines, a Chapter of the International Organization of Women Pilots, the National Intercollegiate Flying Association as well as being secretary of Pomona Valley Pilots Association. Her airplane is based at Cable airport, in Upland, where she is active on the annual Air Show Committee.
Ron Meyer, PVPA Treasurer, began flying in Jan 1958 in an Aeronca 7AC. His first flights were with skis mounted on the airplane. According to Ron, "There is lots of snow in Michigan in January." Ron became a CFI in (1989). He currently instructs out of Cableair and Runway 37. Ron holds Commercial Pilot, CFII, Multiengine and Instrument ratings. When he is not flying, Ron makes his living as an engineer.  Ron is married to Judy and they have two children and four grandchildren.
