AN ORGANIZATION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA PILOTS
DEDICATED TO THE JOY OF FLYING

AIRPLANE GOLF

Teams

  1. The teams will consist of three members. Pilot, tee off (drop) and on ground golfer.
  2. Any member may join one or more teams in any capacity.
  3. Anyone having only one or two entrants may use another from any other team.
  4. Any team of three individuals as one team will only be allowed one attempt per day, but may compete once on Saturday and once on Sunday, except "any" one person may join another team and compete once a day with them etc. He could conceivably compete several times per day.

Golf

  1. #1 person (Pilot) will fly at 200' AGL at designated spot.
  2. #2 person (tee off) will drop a flour bag trying to hit a designated target.
  3. #3 person (golfer) on ground will place golf ball where flour bag landed. Then proceed to knock the golf ball (with a putter) into cup; this will ordinarily cost several strokes. Not easy to do.
  4. A score number will be given for the accuracy of the drop.
  5. Another score will be given for the number of strokes to drive the ball into the cup.
  6. These scores will be added together for the final score for this portion of the event.

Spot Landing

  1. A line will be placed across the runway.
  2. The pilot will attempt to land as near (after the line) as possible.
  3. Scoring will be as follows: Landing before the line will receive a 15 stroke penalty
  4. The first 10 feet "after" the line will receive 1 stroke score each succeeding 10' increment will have an added stroke i.e. If the landing touches say 65' the score would be 6.5 strokes and this would be added to the golf score, and taxi score for the day's total.
  5. Bounce at 1st touchdown does not count as landing - when your wheels stick "is" counted.

Taxi Event

A course (short) will be set up with cones. Scoring is simple for any errors a 1 stroke penalty. If no errors are committed a score of 1 will be assigned which is the desired score.

Total Scoring

All scores from each event will be added together for the team total. SUPPOSE: The drop (tee off) score was 2, the golf drive was 7, the pilot landed at 38' past the stripe of the runway will give you 3.8, the taxi event netted him 2 assuming he made 2 errors. The total score would be:

  2
  7
  3.8
  2
 14.8 total for the day

Fees

A $2.00 per entrant fee will be charged to defer the cost of awards. Any person joining a second or more team will be charged the $2.00 fee for each individual team he joins. Any excess funds after costs will go to the Pomona Valley Pilots Association, a non-profit organization.
