Go Big Or Stay Home

The Gobosh in flight. Photo: Gobosh Aviation. And you thought LSA stood for Light Sport Aircraft. Wrong, according to Kent Pramhus and Tony Settember it means Luxury Sport Aircraft and they had the airplane to prove it. The Gobosh 700S, it means Go Big Or Stay Home, is an all metal, two-place (the maximum according to LSA rules) side by side beauty that will cruise at 112 kts and burn under 4 gallons of fuel per hour. If you were to break it down, that's 128.8 statute miles per hour with an advertised fuel burn of 3.8 gph, or almost 33.9 miles per gallon. With a range of 400 nm (460 sm) one could make it from Brackett, where PVPA meets, to San Francisco without stopping, if the winds are cooperating, and still have sufficient reserves. The 1320 maximum gross weight airplane will carry a useful load of 500 pounds (390 full fuel payload). It is advertised to take off in 380 feet and only needs 1,450 feet to clear the preverbal 50-foot obstacle. The wise (average) pilot will add 20 to 30 percent to those numbers for safety, but the figures are still impressive.

PVPA members inspect the Gobosh.Looking at its full six-pack panel, toe breaks, dual throttles (one on the center and the other on the left), stick, rather than a yoke and generous bubble canopy, one gets the feeling of a little fighter plane. The Rotax 912 turning a 5' 8” three-bladed, ground adjustable prop is so quiet on takeoff it's almost stealthy.
