The 25th Li'l Ole Airplane Rally is an event that tests your ability to fly a route using only basic piloting skills. The event will start from Cable airport and return to Cable airport. There will be 10 checkpoints which to fly to and identify something that can only be identified by being there. Call Ron Meyer (909) 544-2816 before May28 to register.

Your Team (pilot and navigator) will given a set of coordinates defining the position of each checkpoint for determining your course and for computing the time to fly the approximately 200 nm course. Each team will then submit this prediction to the Rally officials, prior to take-off. Use of radio navigation equipment (GPS, VOR, etc.) is NOT permitted. E6B or electronic flight computers ARE permitted. Your time will start upon passing the Tetrahedron and will stop upon re-entering the pattern as shown on the checkpoint sheet. The number of checkpoints identified and the difference of your predicted time vs. actual time will determine your score.

The team that identifies all the checkpoints and flies closest their predicted time will be awarded. There will be award plaques for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Pilot and Navigator.

Each aircraft will be given an identifying rally number.

A local FSS representative will give a complete weather briefing at 8:30AM. The event will only be held if VFR conditions prevail. A rain date will be announced if necessary.

Spot Landing: There will be a spot-landing contest at the end of the rally. A $25.00 prize will be awarded.

Student Pilots: Student Pilots with their instructor as navigator are welcome and encouraged to participate.
